Although President Roosevelt had many personal cars over the years that were more what the average person would drive, for 'official' travel there were an assortment of luxurious Cadillac, Lincoln, Pierce-Arrow and Packard limousines and phaetons available to him.

Fleetwood built two huge convertible sedans for 7-8 passengers on a special chassis of 165' wheelbase, powered by the mighty sixteen-cylinder Cadillac engine. These two limos were named affectionately the 'Queen Mary and Queen Elizabeth' after the great British ocean liners that were also making news at the time.

Our model is based on photos taken of this car in Florida, where the owner still drives the car for special occasions. Both of these cars were used up to the mid-fifties as parade vehicles and security cars by the occupants of the White House and their 'guardians'. Communications equipment (telephone and two-way radio) as well as special gun racks and pistol holsters were part of the standard equipment. A short flagstaff was placed on each front fender, one for the Stars and Stripes, and the other for the Presidential flag. A large police siren and red emergency light were mounted on the left hand front fender. There were running boards for six Secret Service agents outside, and the car was primarily used for parades. Although considered the 'Roosevelt' car for his fondness of convertibles, Harry S. Truman and Dwight D. Eisenhower had use of it.
