The Thunderbolt evolved by combining the lightweight Fairlane 500 and with a little "shoehorn engineering" coaxed the big Galaxie model's high-rise 427 CID V8 into the Fairlane body. The result was the Fairlane Thunderbolt; a 425 horsepower, single purpose, Drag Racing legend. In the end, Ford's efforts and expenditures paid off. The '64 season saw the Thunderbolt take home the World Championship for Top Stock Eliminator!
